Barbara Stevenson (Simpson)

Barbara S. Simpson N. MYRTLE BEACH - Barbara Gail Stevenson Simpson entered her eternal home on Thursday, February 25, 2016. She led a life well lived and well loved by showing the love of the Lord in her daily walk. She was born on August 21, 1950, in Rock Hill to Jackie and the late Robert Stevenson. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Francis Simpson. She is survived by her sister, Vicki Brooks (Marshall) of Lake Wateree, S.C. and brother, Jake Stevenson (Martha) of Rock Hill, S.C. She also is survived by her two sons, Jeremy Bass (Ginger) of Louisville, Ky. and Jason Bass (Danika) of Elgin, S.C. She also has three granddaughters. Affectionately known as "Bobbi," she was extremely active all of her life. She graduated from Rock Hill High School in 1968. She later graduated from Winthop University in 1992 after returning for her degree in Education. She owned and operated "Bobbi's Bloomies" Florist for many years and loved making people happy with her work there. She was called on many times to make special arrangements for people who knew the quality of work she insisted on. She enjoyed time with her family and time at her homes in North Myrtle Beach and Roan Mountain, Tenn. She loved serving others and committed time to many different charities and causes to help those less fortunate. She was an avid golfer (aka "a bad mathematician"). Bobbi was the "Queen Bee" of her Red Hat Society chapter for several years and enjoyed misbehaving with her sisters there. She was a member of Catawba Baptist Church and greatly enjoyed her church family. She also attended Living Water Baptist Church in Longs, S.C. Her memorial service will be held at Catawba at 2 p.m. on Saturday, February 27. Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. at the church before the service. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be directed for use at the new Youth Center at Catawba Baptist.
