Rock Hill, South Carolina - Mr. Arthur C. Whitesell III (Art), 71, of 4705 Steele Village Road, passed away Saturday, March 20, 2021, at the Medical University of South Carolina, Charleston, SC.
In order to safety to accommodate all those who wish to attend, funeral services will be at the Magnolia Room at Laurel Creek.
The family will receive friends 6 - 8 pm Wednesday, March 24, 2021 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Rock Hill Ward, Saluda Road. Funeral service will be 2:00 pm Thursday, March 25, 2021, at The Magnolia Room at Laurel Creek, 4017 Laurel Creek Drive, Rock Hill, SC 29732. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery.
Art was the son of the late Arthur C. Whitesell, Jr. and Leaborne Lee Whitesell, and he was the husband of Diane Russell Whitesell for over 49 years.
Art graduated from Brigham Young University with a Bachelor of Science in Zoology. He pursued a career in business and was a gifted entrepreneur. He served many years in Scouting, was director of the Children's Attention Home, sat on a number of business and community boards, and was active in politics.
Among his business ventures were owner or partner in Quality Business Machines, Shrimp Boat Restaurant, Whitesell Investigative Services, and Edwards Body Shop.
Art was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where he devoted much of his life to service in teaching and leadership positions. He continued to serve faithfully through two bouts of cancer, kidney failure, dialysis, and heart failure. He recognized God's hand in giving him strength beyond his own natural ability. To his last month, he was generous in his desire to bless the lives of others.
While he loved farming, the beach, and Disney World, his overarching passion was his family.
Surviving in addition to his wife, Diane Russel Whitesell; three sons, Cory Whitesell (Martha), Jason Whitesell (Laurie), and Jeremy Whitesell (Sarah); three daughters, Aimee Childs (Clark), Heather Rogers (Rob), and Jessica Bird (Kevin); two brothers, Steven A. Whitesell and David Whitesell (Stephanie); two sisters, Jeannie Thompson (Ron) and Julie Anderson (Scott); 19 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. He was a beloved and devoted uncle to countless adored nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Karson Whitesell.
The family would like to express their love and appreciation to the employees of Fresenius Dialysis Center of Rock Hill as well as the physicians, nurses, and staff at MUSC-Charleston for their dedication to providing expert, compassionate care.

So sorry to hear that Artie passed away.  May God grant his family comfort and strength during this difficult time. What I remember about Artie was that he was such a great and friendly guy!

Artie was such a great guy. Always a very sincere person...not a phony bone in his body. I always admired his path to success.I remember when he started out with White Business Machines, and then left and started his own business. Running up and down highway in a old van. I knew then that was only the beginning of a great story for him.  I think Artie was always very good to all his employees and vendors. We'll certainly miss him. Danny Deas.
