Don Keever

Donald Keith Keever, 73, of Columbia, died on Friday, November 17, 2023. Born in Rock Hill, SC, on October 22, 1950, he was a son of the late Jack and Josie Keever. Don was a graduate of the University of South Carolina where he was a member of the Kappa Sigma Fraternity. His career was spent in various sales capacities before ultimately spending his time in Real Estate. He was a member of his beloved Forest Lake Presbyterian Church.
Don was a good Christian soul. He spent much of his time doing good deeds such as helping local food banks and serving the homeless at Oliver Gospel Missions of Columbia. Don will be missed by many. Survivors include his wife, Laura Robinson Keever; brothers, Gary Keever (Carol), of Auburn, AL and Bruce Keever (Joan), of Rock Hill, SC; as well as his step-children, Robin Lipscomb and Ned Lipscomb (Jill); step-grandchildren, Beau Lipscomb, Sosie Lipscomb, Jacob Barlow and Seth Barlow; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members; and four beloved cats.
The service for Don will be held at 1 o'clock, Tuesday, November 21st, at Forest Lake Presbyterian Church, 6500 N. Trenholm Rd. Columbia, SC 29206 with the Rev. Dr. Ellen Skidmore and the Rev. Ed Black officiating. Interment will follow in the church memorial garden after which the family will receive friends in the church parlor for a reception. Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, is assisting the family.
In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial donations be made to Forest Lake Presbyterian Church, to the Oliver Gospel Mission, 1100 Taylor St, Columbia, SC 29201; or to the City of Columbia Animal Services, 127 Humane Ln, Columbia, SC 29209.

I'm sorry to hear about Don's passing. I remember him from high school and also saw him several times in Columbia when we attended USC together.

  I knew Don in g school grammar school. We were in Cub Scouts together at First Presbyterian Church. His mother was a den mother. Don l ialso played in the Rock Hill band. He played saxophone. Always thought he was a very nice person.

Sorry to hear about Don passing. I believe we went to Sylvia Circle together and I think he was our paper carrier also. I ran into Don about 15 years ago at my neighbor's get together party in Columbia. My neighbor and Don had some ongoing business dealings.  I didn't recognize him mainly due to his classic handle bar moustche. It was great to see a classmate and friend which I hadn't seen since graduation.
